Ides of March Framed Poster by Cy Twombly
In the annals of postwar American art, few works capture the tension between classical antiquity and modern abstraction as powerfully as Cy Twombly's Ides of March. This fine art print, faithfully reproduced from the original, invites you to engage with Twombly's enigmatic meditation on the assassination of Julius Caesar. Presented in a sturdy wooden frame and ready to hang, it transforms any room into a space of historical intrigue and aesthetic refinement.
Twombly, a master of merging text and image, often drew upon classical literature and history. The Ides of March series exemplifies his signature approach: a feverish, calligraphic surface where scrawled words and visceral marks evoke the chaos and betrayal of that fateful day in 44 BCE. This museum-quality reproduction preserves the subtle nuances of the original, from the delicate tracery of pencil-like lines to the emotive splatters of paint.
