The Fire that Consumes All before It is a monumental testament to his genius, part of a ten-part series inspired by Homer's Iliad. This specific canvas captures the raging inferno that engulfs Troy, a moment where destruction and creation collide in a visceral explosion of color and form.

Twombly, known for his poetic scribbles and historical references, created this series in 1978 for the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Each canvas corresponds to a book of the Iliad, and this particular work embodies the ferocious energy of war. The artist's signature scrawls, drips, and smears evoke the chaos of battle and the inevitability of fate. The fiery reds and oranges, punctuated by Twombly's characteristic white scrawls, suggest both the literal flames of Troy and the consuming passion of human conflict.

At Cy Twombly Store, we bring this masterpiece into your space with an exceptional canvas print that honors the original's intensity and texture.
